This evening, on my way home from El Bar, I heard the shocking news about "Steve the Cab Driver’s" untimely death.

According to the ajc.com, he was found "slumped over in the driver seat of his Lenox Cab company car on Glen Iris Drive and Ralph McGill Boulevard", on Sunday evening around 11pm.

I'm fairly certain a lot of you who use cabs regularly in Atlanta have crossed paths with Steve Guarini at some point in time. Whether he was taking you home after a night of clubbing or directing you to the nearest after party, Steve was always there to make sure you made it to your destination in a timely fashion. He will be missed dearly, so if anyone reading this has any information which may aid the investigation into his murder, please do contact the Atlanta Police department as soon as possible.

I have no idea if a suspect has been apprehended at present, but feel compelled to help spread the word in the event that this case is still unsolved. Please repost this message.

Taxi driver found shot to death in Old Fourth Ward

By SAEED AHMED

Published on: 09/10/07

A taxi cab driver was found shot to death in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward on Sunday night.

A passerby found Steve Guarini, 49, slumped over in the driver seat of his Lenox Cab company car on Glen Iris Drive and Ralph McGill Boulevard about 11 p.m. and called police thinking the man had suffered a heart attack, authorities said.

Arriving officers discovered Guarini had been shot. The bullet had entered his back and lodged in his chest, killing him, officials said.

Guarini had been driving for the company since its inception about 15 years ago, said employee Rob Williams. His death was the first casualty for the 130-person company during that time, Williams said.
